ABOUT THIS SITE

A fool for a client ... me

Like that old saying goes, my client was foolish to hire me.

It's hard enough to be objective about the copy for your own site, let alone handle the design and coding (especially when you don't know all that much about design and coding!).

I was kind of bored with the idea of relying on just a few images to support the concept of ideas that "stand out," so I decided to learn how to use PHP to create variable content. The picture at the upper right appears randomly (sort of) -- and so do the testimonials and the portfolio examples in the sidebar.

But I did get some help. Stu Nicholls of CSS Play developed the drop-down menus that appear at the top. It's done purely through CSS (Cascading Style Sheets), no JavaScript needed. I also adapted one of his purely CSS-based image viewers for my portfolio pages.

All the images on one page

You might have to click for a long time to see all the images that appear at the top of these pages, so here's one page with all the images used in the rotation.

More foolishness ahead

This all took several months, but I did learn a lot. Next project? I want to incorporate all of my blog directly into this web site.

And I'm just about foolish enough to give it a try.
